Cut Files for Card Making

Vector files scale to any size in your cutting software without losing quality. Most card-makers cut between 2 and 3 inches for A2 (4.25 by 5.5 inch) card focal points, 1.5 to 2 inches for smaller A6 cards, and up to 4 inches for full square card fronts. Resize the design in Cricut Design Space or Silhouette Studio before sending to your machine.

Switch to a fresh fine-point blade for detailed florals and lace designs, slow the cutting speed by one notch in your software, and use a stronger mat (green StandardGrip or purple StrongGrip). Heavier 80 to 100 pound cardstock holds shape better than lighter weights for fine detail.

Most single-layer designs and smaller accents work on the Cricut Joy, which has a 4.5 inch cutting width. Larger background designs and full-page accents need a Cricut Explore, Maker, or Silhouette Cameo. The file dimensions on each product page indicate which machines fit.
